Module 5
To be honest Blogging ended up being a more informative and enjoyable experience than I had expected. Many of the Blogs which I viewed were what I had expected and I was not impressed, but some of the news Blogs were to my surprise very well put together and interesting. My overall feeling about the worth of this assignment to the importance of the class was that it was very effective. This being a media and society class the project seemed to work as a great tool to integrate the students with the actual subject being taught. My final thesis statement has not changed, however I will recognize that I had underestimated the world of Blogging in general. I still don’t feel that Blogs will significantly impact corporate journalism in particular due to its lack of credible gatekeepers
Module 4
The information Blog I found was http://tomztoyz.blogspot.com/ and the vanity Blog I found was http://www.nomisfrog.blogspot.com/. The information Blog was devoted to one subject, as apposed to the vanity Blog which explored the many facets of one individual.
1. The information Blog site was devoted to Batman information and novelty items. This guy has everything Batman, and posts all related Batman news available. In addition multiple video clips are posted to view.
The vanity Blog I found discusses various activities, thoughts, and interests of the individual.
2. I would say that Blogging supports this particular type of journalism as apposed to print media because this journalism is that of a personal journal or diary made public. No corporation or editor would just spend money and publish personal journals unless there was more profit involved. With the use of free Internet sites personal journalism is more of a reality. The wonderful thing about information or vanity Blogs is that they are good as long as they're personal; if a vanity Blog tells of a persons life, or an information Blog provides information about someones specific interests then they are doing their job.
3. I would say that this neither supported nor didn't support my thesis, I rate it as a 3

Module 3

This Ezine reports business news, specializing in the stock market. This additions talks about how the PTC's revenues are below the projections and how the share prices have dropped by
%20. The news blog reported on recent tends in Mormonism, and how they are keeping their traditions important without living in the past.
I felt that the blog was more professional that the Ezine, the blog almost seemed like a full blown news website and the Ezine looked more low budget. The Blog was also easier to find on the Internet, the Ezine was actually a little trouble to find. The Blog again was easier to read, the writing for the Ezine was of poor quality. It would be hard to compare the two in terms of content because the two covered different news topics, the Ezine was business, and the Blog was religion. I felt that they were both credibly but I have no way of checking their validity. I actually would be more inclined to believe a print copy because print copies have more gatekeepers and for me that generally means more trustworthy.
Overall the material that I found did not support my thesis, I found this particular Blog to be a great news source and I rate it as a 2.

1. It seems that the information out there is all in much favor of blogging for the business. It's free advertising, company's can post up brochures, business cards, any information that they wish. It is basically a free business website, but with a business blog those who are interested in your business or product can engage in a dialogue with the owner(s) to find additional information. With this blog one can also post links that will lead to official websites with more information. Also with consumers engaging in dialogue with the owner and posting comments, this could potentially be good consumer advertising.
2.Other options for an Entrepreneur to market themselves would be a regular commercial website, business cards, advertisements in specialised areas for their particular audience, and there is always word of mouth. What a blog can do that these other means can't, is basically condense the other means into an easy to run, with almost no expense signal advertising tool which also allows for consumer dialogue. I think that blogs can be an effective alternative, but then you run into the problem of getting our blog advertised as much as you want it, if the means were available to give a business blog the necessary exposure then it could very well be a good advertising alternative tool.
3. This new information neither does nor doesn't support my thesis, business blogging is a separate issue from how it is going to affect the news media in terms of private blogging authors vs. big business publications. I rate it as a (3)

thesis for module 1
I feel that blogging has not significantly impacted the print journalism industry. I feel that online news has however had a great impact, but as long as people are still looking for credible sources for their news, I think that they will continue to go with the big names out there like the New York, and LA Times.
